Meet the team

James Glerum MRICS

James oversees all site origination and development management projects for The Charge. He is chartered surveyor and started his career at Strutt & Parker as a land agent and then moved to Savills in Amsterdam as a commercial surveyor after 15 years with an Anglo-Dutch development group.

He then moved on to New York and Canada with a German family fund, followed by Russia with EPIC, Poland with Pioneer, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany with Invesco, as both a developer and advisor. James’ real estate career spans over 40 years and his experience of developing property assets has resulted in many successful projects with impressive returns to underlying investors.

Gren Carr-Jones FRCIS

Gren acts as Chairman of The Charge and is primarily responsible for the management and administration of the company structure and vehicles and the overall strategic direction of the company. Over the years, he has accumulated experience in the establishment, management and administration of real estate Funds, and gained extensive experience in asset and fund level financing strategies.

Gren is a chartered surveyor and started his career with a predecessor firm of CBRE in the UK. He has worked in real estate businesses for over 35 years.

He currently works with investors in respect of real estate investments in Europe and India, plus Asian and South American Family Offices. He is based in Luxembourg, where he sits as a non-executive director on Boards and as an Investment Committee member for clients.

David Cunnington

David oversees the ongoing financial management of all Charge sites and is responsible for implementing the funding strategy for the business. He has over two and a half decades of experience in finance and real estate. In 2014, he founded Charles Irvine, a boutique real estate capital advisory business.

Prior to this, David served as the Head of Corporate Finance at Savills Investment Management, where he joined as a founding partner in 2004. During his career, David has been involved in projects to raise equity of c. £1.5bn and debt financing & refinancings of c. £2.0bn.

Tim Clegg

Tim manages Investor Relations for The Charge and its external partnerships and is primarily responsible for securing equity investments to the group. He started his career in investment banking before moving into equity sales then prime brokerage capital introductions. He has worked for UBS, ABN Amro, Citi and Morgan Stanley.

At Morgan Stanley, Tim headed the firm’s Middle East hedge fund capital introductions effort before joining a start-up hedge fund with the backing of a Swiss family office.

Thomas Bland ACA

Thomas focuses on due diligence and investment appraisal for new projects undertaken by The Charge and leads the cashflow and funding analysis for the group. Thomas has specialised in real estate funding and financial management since May 2021. He heads up financial modelling for equity and debt capital raising mandates for a number of projects within different sub sectors of the real estate market in his role at Charles Irvine.

He was previously an Investment Analyst at Blenheim Chalcot, a venture capital adviser and investment fund. Prior to that he spent two years with Deloitte in London, where he trained as a Chartered Accountant.
